As I sit outside of Grady Hospital, I notice many things. The architecture of Grady Hospital is exactly what i expected of a hospital. That is why I focused more on the atmosphere of Grady rather than the architecture. The atmosphere had a weird feel to it like any other hospital .
The outside of the hospital was very quiet, maybe I was just sitting in the wrong part, I was sitting outside of Outpatient Services. The many different people who walked in were not as emotional as I had imagined.
But when I went in ….
When you first walk in you see the outpatient registration desk I went around 6 p.m when there was no one at the desk at the time, to my right I saw elevators to go to many different floors. There was a quiet and calm aura when I walked in. The place was so clean and dustless. The colors on the wall were so bland.
I sat in the room for hours and only saw a total of 23 people pass me by .
As I sat outside of Grady, I sat at the outpatient entrance. everyone who walked in didn’t have ecstatic emotions on their faces, it was more of a monotoned feeling. The Caucasian lady with the purple shirt walked past me seemed as if she had no emotion going into the hospital.
As I sat there not a lot of people walked past in total there welre 56 people who passed me. A lot of them were families. Mostly older people I didn’t see a lot of younger people walking in. There were mostly older people walking in around the ages of 30-60.
Most of the things I saw were families entering and no more than that but overall many people didn’t show emotion going in which was weird I heard no laughs or giggles. It doesn’t surprise me since it’s a hospital.
When it comes to the architecture of the Grady Hospital, I feel as if it has nothing to do with the emotion of the people coming into the hospital . The atmosphere overall is everything!
Sounds : bell rings when the streetcar come, its looks like a long train, there’s a lady speaking saying the intercom “Welcome to the Atlanta Streetcar”. I hear people talking and laughing on the streetcar and the lady on the intercom announcing every stop and when to clear the door and exit.
Color : Overall the streetcar was mostly green and blue. The seats were blue. The railings were silver.
